SKATERS and BMX riders are celebrating the collapse of plans to build over a historic skatepark.

Harrow Council had wanted to bulldoze Harrow Skatepark, in Christchurch Avenue, to make way for a replacement to Harrow Leisure Centre, but the project fell victim to the country’s declining economy.

The plan was to sell land in and around the site of Harrow Leisure Centre, in Christchurch Avenue, to fund a new building, and a replacement skatepark, but with house prices dropping the council could not get the money it needed…

The historic Harrow Skatepark plays a huge role in Standard’s 1999 Release Eurotour. The home park of James Hitchcox, Harrow was an unplanned stop during filming but produced some great scenes of miniramp, cement park, and The Gonz’s “playgound” session. A photo session in the dark at Harrow also produced 2 future advertisements in Ride BMX magazine. Everyone who has been to Harrow has to be stoked that the park has another lease on its long and historic life. Filming sessions for Eurotour and many subsequent videos has been a huge park of Standard’s and James’ history. Read the story and watch the video and support your local 1970’s Skatepark!

Up next, photos of Monica Fogler’s custom “MoFo Ultra Light Delight” frame. It is a 20.5 top tube 125R custom sruiser frame. It weighed in at 3.5 lbs. when finished.

finally an update eh? yeah, here we go…starting with the bad and gradually getting better. i recently got this message from benny p:

I double pegged a slightly downhill rail no stairs its just a guard rail and tried to hop over into a big ol tar bank.  I hopped over and put my foot down.  Oh poop.  didn’t pull it. gotta try some more.
A few tries later i did the grind, hopped over, was leaning too far over had to jump off real quick.  right foot hit first and my ankle just blew the fuck out.  pretty sure it dislocated and rolled my foot upside down.  I screamed the usual “I broke my ankle in half!!!”  I have a small crack on the fibula (smaller of the two leg bones) just above my right ankle.  My lower leg and foot are fat as fuck.  Maybe even Cankle worthy.  My old ass house (built in 1853) has steep as fuck stairs.  Its really fun with crutches.  we were filming when it happened but sick nick quit recording as soon as he saw i wasn’t going to pull it.  darn.  I wish i could have watched my ankle die.  My vicodin should be kicking in soon.  I just heard a gunshot.  Damn gangstas.

we’ve had a lot going on lately so that’s why the news has been sparse for the past week or so. today is no different either. just a quick update for now…

we have a couple new colors on some shirts. i suppose you could call them summer colors?

we also have track jackets in…and quite early too, haha. they come in black and red and are dope. i’ll get pictures up ASAP.

harry d. has edited a couple videos and i’ll be putting those up on our channels real soon.
